Have A Brain, Don't Eat Grain In Springfield!
It’s really no secret – eating grains will make you put on weight
Refined grains will lead to obesity, and many of us are eating way more of them than we should be.
People today think we need to eat grains for certain vitamins or minerals, but that truth is that we can find these things in much healthier foods.
- Fiber: apples, blueberries, broccoli, onions, mushrooms
- Iron: spinach, chicken, asparagus, broccoli
- Potassium: kale, spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes
- Protein: artichokes, eggs, broccoli, almonds
The list can go on. There are no health benefits to eating grains, especially when you can find the same nutrients in much healthier foods! In fact, grains are doing a lot more harm to your body than you may know.
Grains contain gluten and lectin
Both problematic to your digestive system. Grains are a relatively new food; they we didn’t eat them prior to 5,000 – 10,000 years ago. Our bodies are adapted to eat only fruits, vegetables, fish, meat, and nuts. These types of foods are not associated with causing chronic diseases, but grains are.
Eating grains can lead to chronic inflammation which in turn leads to a number of complications:
- Obesity
- Diabetes
- Heart disease
- Depression
- Cancer
- Has been linked to: Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s
Reducing inflammation is essential
And for those of you who think that picking up the loaf of whole wheat bread instead of white bread is a healthy choice, no bread at all would be much better! The whole grain bread is just as hard on your digestive system and raises your blood sugar just as much as white bread does.
Reducing inflammation is essential to living a healthy lifestyle. There are so many foods you can eat to help fight inflammation:
- All fruits and vegetables
- Fish
- Meat from grass-fed animals
- Eggs
- Nuts
- Spices
- Organic oils and fats
- Water and organic tea
It’s very simple
